Ingredients
• White sugar (3 3/4 cups)
• Confectioners’ sugar for dusting (1/2)
• Water (1 cup)
• Light corn syrup (1 ˝)
• Orange or any other flavored extract (1/2)
• Food coloring (1/2)-optional
Method
First of all, the recipe for hard candy would require you to take a saucepan of medium size and then have to put white sugar, corn syrup and water and stir all of these. Now keep cooking and stirring till the time sugar gets dissolved and starts boiling. But make sure that you cook it on a medium heat. Now once it starts getting boiled, keep heating, but without stirring it from 300 to 310 degrees F (149 to 154 degrees C) and keep heating till the small amount of syrup dropped in cold water starts forming hard and brittle threads. Then remove it from heat and add the flavored extract and food coloring too if you want. Next step is placing a greased cookie sheet, and dusting it with the confectioners’ sugar. Then leave it to cool and then break down into pieces. Make sure you store the candy in an airtight container.

The very first step of the hard candy recipe is to have the 18 x 24" strip of heavy duty foil sprinkled with powdered sugar. Then mix sugar, water and corn syrup in a saucepan of medium size. Place the saucepan over medium heat and keep stirring until the sugar dissolves. Then next step is to boil, but this time without stirring, and you need to keep boiling it till it reaches a temperature of 310 degrees or when the drops of syrup would start forming hard and brittle threads in the cold water. After this, remove the pan from the heat and then stir it in flavoring oil and coloring too, if you would like to. Cool it and then break it into pieces.
